I'm entering in a experiment time because I would like to begin some news portfolios to send to publishers in the purpose of drawing some cover for books. And my "normal" style is to much comic... And I know I have to make dispapear the "lines" of my works... So experiments with more and more watercolor/pencil/gouache/acrylic/charcoal in grey value... And then color on photoshop.
This one was supposed to be some kind of pirate. And I don't know when it turns to some kind of Cardinal Richelieu in musketeer disguise... Woh... This last sentense sounds like some kind of heresy !!! XD
Amazing work, did you use any artistic reference? I wanna say that the style sorta hints at Toulouse-Lautrec, but I could be wrong. This is absolutely gorgeous and very theatrical!
I really like it when your characters look more 'messy', it makes them more alive. Also, your backgrounds are the best, though we can't see much of it here
